Maple Sugar Open House
March 8th, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Join us for a maple sugaring open house with UNH Extension Forester, Steve Roberge. We will have an on-going boiling demonstration throughout the day. Folks can come to learn how to identify and tap maple trees and how maple syrup is made. Bring your questions and your curiosity for this spring tradition.

Woolly Wonder Festival
May 2nd, 10:00am – 2:00pm
A day of working with wool (washing, spinning, felting), visiting some of our sheep, and watching sheep be shorn! A professional shearer will be at the Farm to give our flock their yearly woolcuts. After the sheep are shorn, you can skirt, wash, and card the fleece, a process that prepares wool to be spun into yarn and turned into warm, cozy clothing and blankets.

Star Gazing and Sky Watching at Joppa Hill Educational Farm

Calling all sky watchers and star gazers! Join 4-H volunteers and the NH Astronomical Society to explore and learn to navigate your way around the celestial sphere!
This adult focused star party is for anyone with an interest in the night sky. We welcome people with all levels of experience. During the star party we will:
- Make and learn how to use a perpetual star map (planisphere)
- Identify constellations with the naked eye and binoculars
- Identify planets and learn how to tell the difference between planets and stars
- Observe star clusters and galaxies
- Dress for the weather and bring whatever snacks, hot drinks will help keep you comfortable.

Wildlife Tracking in Winter

The Bedford Conservation Commission is hosting a Wildlife Tracking Workshop at the Educational Farm. On this outing, we’ll explore the woods on the Farm property and interpret the tracks of wildlife that we find.
- Dress warmly. We’ll be stopping/discussing at various points

Valentines Day Birdseed Hangers
February 12th, 11:00am – 12:00pm
Celebrate Valentine’s Day by caring for our feathered neighbors. 🐦❤️ Join us at The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill to craft heart‑shaped birdseed hangers that help local birds through the winter. We’ll read a story about animals in winter, walk our story path, visit with our own feathered residents and make a birdseed feeder to bring home.
This hands-on activity supports our mission to foster environmental stewardship and education. All proceeds go towards caring for our resident farm animals.

Come gaze at the stars, learn to identify constellations and stars, build an astronomer’s flashlight and participate in other fun winter nighttime activities, including:
