Meet the animals who transform our fields into a haven of learning and nostalgia, embodying our mission to preserve New Hampshire’s rich agricultural heritage. Joppa Hill Educational Farm fosters interactive educational experiences, forging powerful connections for people of all ages.
Farm Cat
Ellie is our beloved farm cat. She is a calico who was born on Aug. 19, 2014. She was re-homed at the farm for more room to stretch her legs and roam freely. She is an excellent mouse hunter and farm ambassador!
Equine
Suzie is a Haflinger pony mare (female pony) who was born on October 1, 1996. She’s sturdy, sassy, and always keeps a watchful eye on her pasture mates.
Bessie is a miniature donkey jenny (female donkey) who was born in 2007. She’s sweet, steady, and known for her signature bray and calm demeanor.
Paisley is a buckskin Quarter Horse mare (female horse) with a gentle personality and a quiet presence. She was born in 2003 and loves spending time with her new herd.
Tuff is a chestnut Quarter Horse gelding (male horse) who was born in 2003. He’s curious, kind, and happiest when he’s following his friends around the pasture.
Goats
Our GOATS really are the greatest of all time.
Rose is a Nubian who was born in 2018. We love her a whole bunch, but she’s a bit pushy unless you treat her like the queen she is.
Toga is a Toggenburger who was born in 2013. She may be the eldest, but she’s still the most flexible of the whole crew!
Bernadette is a tan Alpine/Nubian who was born in 2016. She loves blackberries and long walks on the beach.
Rosemary is a Nigerian Dwarf Goat who was born to Lavender in 2017. This sweet gal is probably the most zen of the herd.
Lavender (“Lavi Loo”) is a Nigerian Dwarf Goat born in 2016. She’s Rosemary’s Mama, and she’s a bit of a helicopter parent – you’ll never find her more than two-feet from Rosemary.
Edward is a male Nigerian Dwarf Goat who’s brothers with Louis. He’s black & white with a frosted nose, two horns and a little waddle when he walks. He was born June 1, 2023.
Louis is a male Nigerian Dwarf Goat who’s brother’s with Edward. He’s black with very little white, frosted ears and one horn. This unicorn was born on Mar. 22, 2023.
Sheep
Anthony (Katahdin Sheep) is the white, male sheep who has a patch of wool on his back that he just won’t rub off. This breed of sheep does not get sheared, instead they shed their coat. Anthony was born Feb. 15, 2021.
Belichik (Romney Sheep) is a female Romney Sheep who was born in 2017. She has the cutest face!
Arabella (Tunnis/Finnsheep) was born in 2023 and is the daughter of Annabelle. She has a slightly longer tail than her mom. Both came to the farm in January 2024.
Curly (Icelandic Sheep) is gray and brown and he has horns that curl. He was born 2022 and came to the farm in the summer of 2024.
Rabbits
Latte is a female brown and white mini lop ear bunny. Butterfly and Bambi are the black and white female bunnies who were born at the farm on July 8, 2022. Bambi is the one with a black dot near her nose/mouth.
Chickens
We have a variety of chickens at the farm. The various species include Rhode Island Reds, Barred Plymouth Rocks, Rose Comb Brown Leghorns, Pearl White Leghorn, New Hampshire Red Star, and Rhode Island Reds. These ladies produce the eggs we sell in the Farm Stand.
Cows
Ester and Mabel are our resident cows at the farm. Ester is black and she is a Holstein/Angus. Mabel is black & white and she is a Holstein/Hereford.
Ducks
We have several stunning breeds of ducks on the farm: Cayugas, Blue Swedish, Silver Apple Yards, Rouen, Khaki Campbell, and Indian Runners. Most days you’ll see them roaming around the farm or playing in their favorite puddle!
Emu
If you’ve seen a large bird wandering around the pasture, you’re not imagining things! That is Dundee, our female Emu who was born on June 1, 2014. Dundee was rehomed at the farm from a local rescue.
